The University of Manchester, UK, is looking for a lecturer in Spanish linguistics.

You will be a Lecturer in Hispanic Linguistics. You will join the Division of Linguistics and English Language in the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures. Applicants must have a PhD in Hispanic Linguistics and (near-)native command of the Spanish language.

You will have a track record of excellence in teaching and research in the field of (predominantly synchronic) Hispanic linguistics. The ability to teach discourse analysis and/or to contribute to the joint-School MA in Intercultural Communication is desirable. While you will be based in the Division of Linguistics and English Language, the role includes a commitment to the delivery of course units, as well as supervision, in the School’s undergraduate programmes in both Linguistics and Spanish.

You will be prepared to collaborate closely with colleagues in the delivery of research-led teaching and supervision at the undergraduate level within both the Division of Linguistics and English Language and the department of Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American Studies (Division of Language-Based Area Studies). Depending on level of seniority and previous experience you may also be expected to teach and provide supervision at postgraduate level.

You will take an active interest in teaching, find ways of encouraging student learning and be prepared to adopt different methodologies for teaching and assessment to suit different student groups. You will also be willing to take responsibility for administrative tasks within Linguistics and English Language, under the supervision of the Head of Division, and be eager to make a full commitment to our ideals of collegiality and academic integrity at all levels of activity.
