This books breaks down many of the stereotypes about the characteristics of the German immigration into Yucatán, México before the First World War. Using comprehensive ethnographic and historical methodologies, it examines how the origins of the migrants affected not only their possibilities of integration into the receiving society, but also how they impacted the opportunities and challenges faced by their descendants for several generations.
