The Faculty of Arts is seeking to fill the following full-time (100%) vacancy in the Department of Linguistics Doctoral Grant by the University Research Fund (BOF) in the area of synchronic and diachronic semantics of French

Job description

You prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of the synchronic and diachronic semantics of the French conditional tense, within the DOCPRO 2015 project “The reportative conditional in French, an evidential marker. A study into its origin, meaning and meaning evolution”;
You contribute to teaching and research in the department of Linguistics of the Faculty of Arts.

Profile and requirements

You hold a master degree (or equivalent) in French linguistics;
You can submit outstanding academic results;
You are quality-oriented, conscientious, efficient, creative and cooperative;
Your academic qualities comply with the requirements stipulated in the university’s policy;

Are considered pluses for this position:

Proven knowledge of the linguistic analyses of the uses of French tenses and moods, especially the French conditional;
Proven knowledge of the linguistic study of evidentiality or epistemic modality;
Proven knowledge of Old and/or Middle French and their linguistic study ;
Proven expertise in the philological study of older French texts;

We offer

A doctoral scholarship for a period of two years, with the possibility of renewal for a further two-year period after positive evaluation;
The start date of scholarship will be 1 January 2016;
A monthly grant amount ranging from € 2.167,88 – € 2.486,53;
