Stadt: München

Beginn: 2025-05-23

We are pleased to announce the 30 Symposium of the Linguistic International PhD Program (LIPP) at LMU Munich, scheduled to take place from May 21 to 23, 2025, at the Seidlvilla in Munich. The LIPP symposium is regularly organized by members of the Graduate School Language & Literature Munich. This year’s symposium will focus on the theme “Variation and Cognition in Language”, bringing together researchers from the fields of variationist sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics/cognitive sciences. Its goal is to explore new perspectives on the relationship between language variation and cognition.
Possible topics include the following:
- Psycholinguistic Studies of Variation
- Cognitive Factors in Language Variation and Change
- Psycholinguistic and/or Variationist Views on Language Acquisition
- Neurocognitive Underpinnings of Language Variation
- Social Dimensions of Language Variation
- Language Processing and Comprehension in Discourse
- Individual Differences in Variation Processing
- Variationist Perspectives on Bilingual and Multilingual Language Acquisition and Processing
- Computational Modeling of Variation
- Experimental Approaches to Variationist Sociolinguistics and Psycholinguistics
We especially welcome abstracts that operate at the interface of Variation and Cognition.
Additionally, we encourage submissions from researchers rooted in either field who are prepared to present their findings in a way that bridges the gap between the two disciplines.
The conference will feature two presentation formats:
1) 20-minute talks followed by a 10-minute discussion
2) Poster presentations
